WIKA Books 17.81 trillion rupees in sales in 2021, 7.7% more than in 2020; Positive recovery indicator in 2021

JAKARTA, March 21, 2022 – (ACN Newswire) – PT WIJAYA KARYA (Persero) Tbk. WIKA recorded revenue of Rs 17.81 trillion in 2021 as recorded in the financial statements for the period ended December 31, 2021. This achievement was 7.7% higher than in 2020.

The largest contributor to sales was the infrastructure and building segment, followed consecutively by energy and industrial facilities; industry; real estate and real estate; and investment.

WIKA Chairman and CEO Agung Budi Waskito (Agung BW) said the increase in sales suggested a positive indicator of recovery for WIKA’s performance throughout 2021.

“The increase in sales was supported by operating activities which gradually recovered. In 2021, WIKA was able to complete several projects for dams, toll roads and engineering, procurement, construction and Commissioning (“EPCC”). These projects brought WIKA a record positive performance with a net profit of Rs 214.42 billion, said Agung BW.

Agung BW added that in 2021, WIKA recorded a 5.26% decrease in interest expense to R1.16 trillion from R1.22 trillion in the same period of the previous year (YoY) . “The decrease in interest expense is due to WIKA’s efforts to restructure high-interest short-term loans into bonds and sukuk mudharabah with longer duration and lower coupon,” Agung BW said.

The achievements in 2021 will enable WIKA to continue its positive performance next year and return to its pre-pandemic operating level.

Welcoming 2022 with new opportunities: new capital and G20 summit

WIKA optimistically welcomes 2022 as the year of continued economic recovery. The construction sector plays an important role in the recovery, thanks to which WIKA secured R6.1 trillion in new contracts at the end of February 2022, or 14% of its 2022 target of R42.6 trillion.

WIKA’s new contracts include Makassar New Port Access Road, Pondok Aren-Serpong Toll Road, Semarang-Demak Toll Road Section 1B, as well as reconstruction and rehabilitation works at Makassar Port. Donggala.

The G20 summit to be held in Indonesia presents opportunities for WIKA as the government prepares the necessary infrastructure to support this event which will be attended by the leaders of the G20 countries.

Agung BW continued that WIKA is preparing to participate in the construction of the new capital, starting with basic infrastructure.

“With strong integration between construction and manufacturing segments, WIKA is able to deliver added value and is ready to build high-quality core infrastructure in the new capital,” Agung BW concluded.
